Three things make up the fare

  1. 1

A base fare for the trip

Set by the kind of vehicle the trip needs. A wheelchair van costs more to run and to insure than an ambulatory car, so the two are priced differently.

  2. 2

Distance, charged on the loaded miles

The miles with the passenger in the vehicle. You are not charged for the driver getting to you or for the drive home afterwards.

  3. 3

    Waiting, after the free window

Every trip includes free waiting time. Beyond that it is charged in blocks. If we ask you to choose a wait-and-return, we will tell you what the wait costs before you agree to it.

We are still confirming our published prices, and they will go on this page as soon as they are settled. Until then, a phone call gets you a firm number in about two minutes. We would rather show you no price than one that turns out not to be the price you pay.

No surprises

Everything that can change the number

This is the whole list. If any of it applies to your trip, we will tell you on the phone. You will not find it on the bill afterwards.

Stairs at the pickup
More than a couple of steps needs a second person, which changes the cost. This is why the request form asks.
Outside normal hours
Early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays carry a surcharge.
A second passenger riding along
A family member or carer travelling with the passenger.
Bariatric equipment
Chairs above the standard lift capacity need a specific vehicle.
Long distance and out of state
Quoted as a whole trip rather than per mile, because overnight stops and driver hours dominate the cost.
Same-day and short notice
Sometimes, and we will say so on the call rather than after the trip.

If Medicaid is paying

Rides covered by Health First Colorado are arranged through the state's transportation broker rather than booked with us directly, and there is no cost to the member. If that is your situation, call us anyway and we will explain how it works and how to ask for TransComfort by name.

We will not take a booking we cannot fulfil or imply we can arrange something that has to go through the broker. Being clear about that on the first call saves everybody a wasted week.

If a facility is paying

Care communities, skilled nursing facilities and agencies are invoiced monthly, itemised by resident and by trip. No card is handed over in a lobby and no resident is asked to pay and claim it back. How facility accounts work.

Get a firm number

Tell us the pickup, the destination and whether a wheelchair is involved, and we can usually price it while you are still on the phone.
